A 14 day training program is available which leads to a Certificate of Completion in Brief Therapy. Training is held in 3 stages (levels).
I believe in the efficacy of respectful, collaborative and solution oriented work and train therapists in achieving expertise in
this approach to therapy. This way of working is referred to as Solution-Oriented Brief Therapy.
Brief Therapy is an approach to counseling that builds on the internal and external resources of the clients in the process of
fostering and promoting personal change. It derives from the tradition of family therapy and the work of Dr. Milton H. Erickson and
reflects the growing trend toward a more collaborative and respectful approach in the therapeutic setting.
The main focus of this training is on the learning and practicing of Brief Therapy strategies and interventions that lead toward
assisting clients in making the changes that they desire in their lives in an atmosphere of respect, optimism and possibilities.
This training is heavily influenced by the writings and teachings of Bill O' Hanlon
(http://www.billohanlon.com)
who has made a major contribution to the development and popularization of Brief Therapy in the field of psychotherapy.
Sophisticated change-oriented language patterns are taught, demonstrated and practiced until finally naturally incorporated by the
student. An integration of these advanced counseling skills into the therapist's repertoire greatly adds to his or her
effectiveness in helping clients solve the problems that bring them to therapy. In addition, it creates an experience for the
therapist of confidence, pride, satisfaction, and fulfillment in their being able to provide a more superior service to their clients.
This training also offers opportunities to see and experience counseling sessions live and on videotapes. A highly experiential
format serves to help students absorb Brief Therapy as a way of thinking and "get it in your bones." Because of the hands - on
nature of this training and its immediate application to all sectors of counseling practice, it is highly recommended as a valuable
professional tool for those pursuing licensure, as well as for school counselors working with children of all ages. In addition,
this training is an excellent opportunity for practicing clinicians that wish to upgrade their skills in working effectively with
clients.
On-going trainings are available to clinicians and graduate counseling students. Contact me at
